Spring, Survivorship, and Celebrating New Beginnings

Spring in New England emerges gently, with soft green hues spreading across the fields, trees beginning to bud, and robins returning to the feeders. The air still carries a chill, and the sky drifts between gray and blue, signaling the quiet transition from winter to renewal.
In much the same way, cancer survivors move from the intensity of treatment into the path of thriving. At first, the landscape may seem stark—fatigue, uncertainty, and lingering side effects can make renewal feel distant. Yet beneath the surface, healing is already underway.
Like the first signs of spring—buds on branches, the sound of birdsong—small victories begin to emerge. Energy returns in fleeting moments, a renewed sense of purpose takes hold, and the possibility of life beyond survival comes into focus. The air may still be cool, just as fears and challenges remain, but the shift has begun. Thriving is not immediate; it unfolds gradually, with time, care, and patience.
Each Moment We’re Alive’s survivorship program mirrors this journey—helping survivors move forward, one step, one breath, one hopeful sign at a time—until life begins to bloom again.
So as the days grow longer and the world slowly awakens, may we embrace the promise of renewal—both in nature and within ourselves. Just as spring finds its way after winter, survivors find their path to thriving, step by step. Here’s to new beginnings, fresh hope, and the beauty of each moment.
With gratitude
Cindy
